Team Manager

I’ve been involved with this sport for sometime now.  I started racing in the late 70’s and stopped competing in 1994, but I continued going to the races every chance I had just as a spectator.  I can’t tell you how many racing events that I have been to.  I truly love the this sport!  Ever since I stopped competing, my dream has always been to own or manage an off road racing team.  Three years ago at “The General” GNCC in Georgia, I met two guys from South Africa, Kenneth Gilbert and Louwrens Mahoney that came over to the States to compete in the series.  These guys were in a different country, all alone, and were like two fish out of water.  All they had was their pickup truck, their bikes, and a camper, that was it.  One thing lead to another and the next thing I knew “Team South Africa” was born.  My dream had come to reality.  The team was created and based out of my good buddy, Vance Earl’s racing shop in Blacksburg, S.C.  Unfortunately, this year Louwrens was not able to return to the States.  Having all of the hard work, long hours put into building Team South Africa, there was only one thing to do and having only on South African racer, meant there was no more Team South Africa.  It was time for a new name, new riders and a new focus.

R2W racing was born.  I knew in order to make this possible, I had to have help.  Vance has always been the solo type of guy when it came down to racing, but he has opened up his racing shop to us, he’s helping the guy’s with bike setup, technical issues, training and the whole 9 yards.  This has turned into a win-win situation for all of us.  If you have the opportunity to come to any of the National events, look us up and mabye pick Vance’s brain, he’d like that!

I would like to take this opportunity to say “THANK YOU” to all of our sponsors, because without you, this would not be possible.
