3/21/10 Round 3 – The FMF Steele Creek - Morganton, NC

Race Report!

Robby Austell – Having a fourth place start I was happy with. Having the top riders of the class in front of me to be able to judge myself of what kind of pace I was going to be running this year. I cruised behind them the first lap just trying to get in a grove and set a pace for the race after having problems with riders who started in rows ahead I began to work my way to the front after the first lap. After the third lap I had made my way to third and not far behind second so I put my head down and charged for the fourth lap moving my way up to the second position. Completing my fourth lap I started my fifth lap the track started to detriate and the backmarkers became a problem. I couldn’t seem to run the pace I wanted to because of them I ended up just trying to make the best of it and pass them quickly as possible until I came to the hill climb at the end of the track and it was chaos. I made my way around the hill after much waisted time and still remained in second. Half way through the sixth lap I was stopped to my disbelief to be told the race was over I was disappointed because there was still ground left to made up that I had lost at the hill. I’am happy with a second after the bad luck that I have had leading up. Next on the menu is the Big Buck down in Cross Anchor, SC.  See you there!

3/7/2010 Round 2 – The Maxxis General – Washington, GA

Race Report!

As Florida GNCC was now the start of the season on the tuesday we headed off to Georgia for the next GNCC on Sunday! It was perfect race conditions with the track looking great with lots of traction and little dust and mud holes and a motorcross track included. We walked some of the track preparing ourselves for the race.

Kenny G having a bad start with the bike only starting a few seconds later then the rest of the row, pushing himself up through the pack finding it very difficult to find the best lines all the time still trying to learn how all the top guys do it and get through battling to keep up with them and make up time he navigated his way up to 13th overall pushing himself. As the track got worse he was battling with the front forks on the bike causing him to fall back to 19th overall and 9th in class where he finished.

Robby N. coming off a career high 24th overall in Florida, wanted to finish in the top 20 overall now that the series was back on familiar ground.

The flag dropped for the XC2 Pro’s; my bike did not start. Taking off dead last (28th place), I moved into 10th place by the end of the first lap and only seconds behind the lead pack. Going into a fast sweeping turn, I fell and broke my rear brake pedal. Luckily, I was almost to the pits so I stopped and my all-star pit crew, my dad and Vance, had it fixed within minutes. During the the repair, I dropped back to 16th place.
During the next 5 laps of the 8 lap – 88 miles - race, I charged through the pack and moved into the top ten. The bike felt great and I was riding consistenly and making only small mistakes. At the end of the race I finished 10th in the XC2 Pro class and 23rd overall - pretty good considering a little bad luck.
Talking about bad luck, Robby Austell not attending the 1st round in Fl. decided to us up a drop and just start his season at the 2nd round of the series in Ga.    He was heading down to the starting line for the three hour and some how run head on with another competoir destroying his right fork tube.  So his day was done before he even got started!

With Nic P having a nice jump off the line to find himself getting taken out on the 3rd corner dropping down to last place in his class! Picking himself up and pushing trying to make up positions battling to make his way through the pack whilst battling with the deep rutted out sections on the track getting through them with great traction with the Rekluse clutch making his way up to 4th place in his class in the first 2 hours. After pushing so hard to try make up positions using up all of his energy it was a fight for survival to get to the end of the rough rutted out track finished up in 7th place in his class.

After a physically hard demanding week from racing 2 GNCC in one week was a good start to the year considering we can only go forward from there.

Thanks to Rekluse, Two2Cool, JGR MX, G2, Pirelli, Moose Racing, SIDI, Leo Vince, Braking, Sunstar, Pro Grip, NoToil, VER and R2W Racing.

3/2/2010   Rd 1 – The Parts Unlimited – River Ranch, Fl

Race Report!

It was finally time to get out there and prove ourselves at the first GNCC to test our training and put our Rekluse JGR Pirelli G2 R2W racing bikes to the test!   With them calling for rain we prepared for a wet ride and lots of mud bogs! After months of preparation we got our bikes to the start line.

Kenny racing in the XC 1 pro class, having a bad start and working his way through the pack determined to get a good result he was pushing himself to his limit until the track passed under a low bridge he hitting his head on the support knocking him off the bike and just about knocking himself out!

Once he was back on the bike and got going again he pushed himself to find himself in 11th in class and 18th overall working his way past the XC 2 riders so he decided to just pace himself to the finish to prevent blisters and to get points on the board preserving the body for the Georgia GNCC this coming Sunday!

Nic having a good start off the line finding himself in 9th off the line he worked his way up to 7th heading out into the woods! Pushing the limit and chasing the guys he worked his way up to 2nd in class only 15 seconds behind the leader Chris Douglas!

Then pulling into the pits with a unscheduled pit, having  gear problems with his camelback loosing up to 6 minutes dropping back into 15th pushing on the beat up track to work his way up back up to 9th where he finished!

Surviving Florida was always a good start to the season heading into Georgia GNCC this Sunday ready and prepared to push the limit and try to get consistent finishes throughout the year!

Thanks for all the support and help from all the sponsors and team members!
